Pointers Clinch Playoff Berth
Last Friday night, with a win or go home mindset, the Pointers played their hearts out but fell short to the Belleville Wildcats 7-35. Pointers started hot as the defense got a big stop to start the game. After a significant return by Brendan Lynch to set the Pointers up on the Belleville 35, the offense matched the defense’s hot start and scored. Sadly, after that score, the Pointers could not find the endzone for the rest of the game. After a big punt by Leyten Bowers, the Pointers pinned the Wildcats deep at their own one-yard-line; however, the Pointers could not stop the Wildcats quarterback as he had a big run for 75 yards, and the Pointers momentum was gone. The Wildcats passed seemed to be too much for the Pointers all night. Ultimately, time ran out on the Pointers, with the night resulting in a loss.
