Over the weekend, the Mineral Point girls basketball team opened in tournament play. On Friday night, the girls had a convincing win over the Darlington Redbirds with a score of 69-25. Blair Watters led a balanced scoring attack with 16 points and Mallory Lindsey with 10. On Saturday night, the girls captured the regional title with a 57-46 win over the Lancaster Flying Arrows.

The game was a battle between both teams but the Pointers fought hard and won. Three Pointers scored in double figures led by Kennedy Wenger with 18, Mallory Lindsey with 14, and Ella Chambers with 12. Senior, Mallory Lindsey says, “It wasn’t the prettiest win, but a win is a win. Our team knows what’s on the line and how close we are getting to our goal. We are looking forward to this week and can’t wait to see everyone at our games.” This Thursday the girls will take on LaCrosse Aquinas in the sectional semifinals in a much-awaited matchup. The theme for the game in Richland Center will be Whiteout, with the tip-off at 7 O’clock.
