Dodge-Point Boys Soccer Plays in Mineral Point
Sep 13, 2022
The Dodge-Point Boys Soccer team was defeated 2-1 last night in a tough game against the Richland Center Hornets.
Highlights of last night’s game included – goalie Jake Scheckel from Dodgeville with over 10 saves and Cooper Elsner, also from Dodgeville, scoring the penalty kick. After the game, Cooper Elsner stated, “we’re off to a slow start but it’s worth considering we’ve also played three of the top ten teams in the state so far… we are an extremely young team with lots of talent so I believe we can pick it up pretty significantly as the season progresses.” Dodgeville player Brody Gregg also added, “We played hard, learned a lesson, and are a more unified team because of it.”
For the second year in a row, the DP Boys soccer team has hosted a game at our very own Ron Murphy Field. Although the boys fell, the game still had an amazing turnout with tons of supporters from both Mineral Point and Dodgeville. This year, the team is coached by Kyle Glenn and assistant coach Bakken. Last year coach Glenn won coach of the year for the conference after the boys pulled an amazing 8-0-0 record. Losing last year’s seniors was a tough hit but the boys are persevering and learning how to work together as a team. This year, their record currently stands at 2-5-2.
Dodge-Point boys soccer next plays on Saturday 17, 2022, at 11:00 A. M. at the Dodgeville High School field where they will take on Wisconsin Dells High School.
