DP Soccer 2022 Season Ends

October 20, 2022

Welp, ladies and gentlemen, it finally happened. DodgePoint Boys Soccer is completely done with its 2022 fall season. For good this time. While JV met the last game with a general sense of finality, Varsity still had playoffs to look forward to. So despite losing the last game (sad but true), they went and set their sights on defeating Edgewood in a post-season match for the ages. So off they went to Verona to meet their Edgewoodian foes out on the (turf) soccer field. But Edgewood, not to be intimidated, did the same. Not missing a beat, the game exploded right out of the gate in sheer ferocity and intensity. Despite DP throwing everything but the kitchen sink at the Edgewood formation, they were undaunted and simply clapped back with several shots on goal in return. Most of them were stopped by the skilled DodgePoint goalie Jake Scheckel. Most. Unfortunately for DP, four separate balls were delivered into the sweet embrace of the goal thanks to an Edgewood maneuver. DP, on the other hand, just could not make up the ground they lost. Even in the last ten seconds of the game when they had a penalty kick opportunity, it just didn’t quite work out. DodgePoint final score: 0-4 loss.

Oh well. Don’t cry over spilled milk and all that. All in all, DodgePoint had a legitimately solid season of soccer that was full of thrills, chills, and all that good stuff. I mean, a 6-11-3 record is nothing to scoff at. But I suppose this little epilogue game didn’t really amount to much in the grand scheme of things besides officially capping off the 2022 year of soccer. That’s just how it goes sometimes. But with the ending firmly established, there is nothing left to discuss as far as Mineral Point Soccer goes. So with that said, I’m Derek Hottenstein and I bid you all adieu.
