MP Takes on Parkview Vikings in First Round of Regionals
October 18th
To start off the playoff season the Pointer volleyball team took on the Parkview Vikings. The girls made the night quick by winning all three matches right off the bat. They won the three sets with scores of 25-11, 25-6, and 25-11.
MP Stat Leaders:
Kills – Kennedy Wenger – 10, Malea Aschliman – 8
Aces – Regan Suddeth – 4, Kennedy Kabat – 3
Assists – Bre Goninen – 21, Mackenzie Aurit – 10
Blocks – Kennedy Kabat & Kate Cox – 2
Digs – Kennedy Wenger & Kennedy Kabat – 14
The girls know that the playoffs are only going to get harder so they used this match as an advantage to practice what they will need to use in the future. They set the tone for their postseason with this match knowing other teams are out for them. Coach Kari Kabat had something to say about the win, “We played with a lot of focus tonight, which was great to see after a tough loss late last week during the regular season. It was great to have Regan Suddeth back on the floor tonight and we really took control of the tempo of the game and maintained it throughout, despite a scrappy Parkview team effort. They did a good job on defense against us, they just didn’t have a ton of power offensively.”
The team looks forward to taking on Viroqua at home Thursday night!
