Pointer Boys Basketball Defeats Belleville

Last night the varsity boys basketball team used a balanced scoring attack along with an astonishing team rebounding effort to defeat the Belleville Wildcats 68 to 63.  Eli Lindsey led four Pointers in double figures with 19 points followed by Luke Kisgen with 17, Alex Ross with 15, and Landon Thousand with 11. Eli and Landon had 9 rebounds a piece and Cooper Palzkill grabbed 8  more boards. The Wildcats came out of the gates strong with a steal off the tip and a defensive breakdown until the Pointers found their way back in the game and pulled out the victory. Coach Dan Burreson had something to say after the game, “I thought we handled their pressure well, for the most part. There were a couple of minutes where we didn’t handle it well, but then I thought we pulled ourselves together as a team and finished the game off well. It’s good to know that even when down, we have the ability to come back.”

The JV boys won their second game of the young season with a 55 to 39 win over Belleville. Reid Acherman had 15 points, Drew Aschliman added 14, and Jaxson Wendhausen had 13 in the win. The game started in a dog fight and at one point the pointers led by 20. Brett Bossert had something to say about the game, “The game was a major learning experience for all of us and we definitely know what to work on because this team has so much potential and we have a long way to fill those shoes out.” The Pointer JV is on its way, watch out.
