The Mineral Point JV team went on to face New Glarus. It was a back and forth game with several lead changes. It was a tough game for the Pointers as they went 40% from the free-throw line, but the defense picked up the slack and caused several turnovers. It came down to the wire but the Pointers came up short by four points. Coach Jelly said, ¨We just have to knock down our free throws and limit turnovers.”

MP Boys basketball went on the road on Saturday, facing New Glarus on their home turf. They beat them anyway. Though with the final score being a 79-73 victory, the game was definitely a bit too close for comfort. But as well as New Glarus played, Mineral Point had its players converging on that basket, snagging double-digit sums for quite a few players. For example, we have Liam Stumpf scoring 18 points, Joah Filardo scoring 15 points, Dominik McVay scoring 13 points, Ian Keyes scoring 12 points, and Cameron Wiegman and Leyten Bowers each scoring 10 points. That level of teamwork just can’t be beat, no matter how close it may seem. For the game’s highlight, player Gabe Sporle said that “our defense showed some grit and played well.” It all just came together nicely, so let’s hope they can do something similar when they play Darlington on Thursday.
