Mineral Point Wrestling Team Falls Short at Sectionals

The Pointer Wrestling team traveled to New Lisbon Tuesday afternoon to tackle Fennimore. Sadly WIAA will receive a new team wrestling champion in Divison 3 this year. Mineral Point Wrestling Team had a tough battle against Fennimore with an ending score of 25-33. This concludes the all-together teams season. To start the night, Tarrin Riley, at 145, earned a win with a score of 10-2. Starting the night with a win brought the team much energy. Up next, senior Hayden Bakken took on an opponent at 152. Bakken had a good battle but unfortunately fell with a score of 3-4. Jimmy Tibbits walked onto the mat with his head high and walked off with his head even higher. Tibbits won at 160 with a score of 6-5. Bo Hanson had an outstanding match at 170 with a win at the score of 7-3. Quenten Gunderson (182), Will Shute (195), and Mac Busser (220) all fell to their opponents. Fennimore Wrestling Team received an additional 6 points due to a forfeit at 285. Roen Carey stepping up at 106 defetes his contender 8-2. Freshman, Kade Rule pinned his rival at 113 by putting him on his back at 3:22. Carson Kroll (120) and Lucas Sullivan (126) added team points with a win of 6-4 and 4-0. Kylie Rule (132) and Colbi Carey (138) ended the night with two losses.
